Louisa Ann Porter, orphan of William Porter of Charlotte County, VA, married Benjamin Holmes (Homes) in Charlotte County VA on Jan. 5, 1841. The 1850 U.S. Census for Richmond VA indicates that both Benjamin and Louisa were born in 1821. They were the parents of at least five children: Susan E., b. 1840; Virginia Frances, b. 1842-1898); Amanda L. (1847-1866), Benjamin (b. 1850) and Mollie Jane (b. 1854-1866). Benjamin Sr. and two of his daughters died within a one week period during a cholera outbreak in Henrico County in September, 1866. I know Benjamin and Louisa were alive and together in 1860, but cannot find them in the U.S. Census….any thoughts, want to make sure I know all their children and where they were living in 1860.
