HOMER: Old Hill, Rowley Regis, Staffordshire, England 1800s to 1900s
Looking for any information on Homers from Rowley Regis in Staffrodshire, England
My great grandmother's name is Ann (Homer) Morris, born September 3, 1865, Garratts Lane, Rowley Regis, Dudley, Staffordshire, England. She had five siblings named Mary, born May 7, 1860, Ruth, born approx. 1863, Joseph, born approx. 1867, Thomas, approx. 1871, and William, do not know his date of birth. The parents of these children are named James and Selvia or Sylvia (Edge) Homer. According to census of 1871, the whole family was born in Rowley Regis.
James Homer was born 1835 or 1837 and was a chain maker. His father's name was Isaac Homer. Isaac was also a chain maker. James and Selvia or Sylvia were married February 13, 1859 at the New Parish Church of Reddal Hill.
Selvia or Sylvia (Edge) Homer's father's name was Joseph Edge and he was a nailer. Neither James or Selvia/Sylvia could write their names, and used an X to sign documents.
The James and Selvia Homer family came to America in 1880, James coming ahead of the family and the rest coming over at a later time. I would like to hear from any of the siblings of Ann or if anyone has information connecting this family to those in the UK, I'd like to hear from you. I've come to a stand still with Isaac Homer and Joseph Edge right now. Thanks! Linda
