Thanks for your last message. It is interesting (if you look at an old Burke's Peerage and Baronetage) to see that George Tuite's father and eldest legitimate son were both called Mark. I expect your grandparent's reference to a prominent family was to the Tuites. There must be some explanation for Mark Tuite Sterling's Scottish accent. Maybe he was sent back to Britain for his education, though I can't see a Tuite connexion with Scotland.

I have written to one of the present day Tuite Sterlings (I found two UK addresses) and will let you know if I get a response.

I'll email you when my tree and report are ready. Meanwhile hope you can uncover more!
