The Holtzclaws were originally German Reformed and later many became Baptists primarily due to a lack of German Reformed ministers in the American colonies. I am familiar with the Gilreath-Vaughan-Holtzclaw connection, but do not know of any connection with Quakers.
The Otterbachs (Americanized as Utterback)were from the Trupbach area near Siegen in Germany. At the time of their emigration to the colonies, that area was under the control of The Netherlands. I am not familiar with any Otterbachs/Utterbacks in the upstate of SC.
