Thanks for your reply! I've been running into a brick wall, but here is what I am looking for.Someone told me that Germanna Records No. 3 might have some information, but also cautioned me that it may not contain complete/comprehensive info. But, here is what I'm researching . . .
I'm looking for information on John Huffman/Hoffman of Fauquier Co., VA,
possibly born in 1794 or 1795.
He married Delilah Embrey on 21 June 1825 in Fauquier Co., VA. In the will of
Lucretia Embrey, the sister of Delilah, she names her brother-in-law, John
Huffman, as her executor.
The 1850 VA census lists (could read Hoffman or Huffman):
Hoffman, John 56
Hoffman, Delila 45
Hoffman, Mary J. 21
Hoffman, John F. 18
Hoffman, Wm. D. 16
Hoffman, Edwin H. 13
Hoffman, Anne E. 10
The name was eventually changed to Huffman for all descendents; at least for my
ancestor, William David Huffman (listed as age 16 in the 1850 census).
John Huffman's parents were possibly William Huffman/Hoffman and Ann Guy,
who married on 29 April 1789 in VA, but this has not been proven.
Family oral history (as well as an old family bible) states that John, who married
Delilah, was the great great grandson of the John Huffman/Hoffman who settled at
Germanna, VA in 1714 (group from Nassau-Siegen). However, I have been
unable to establish this link.
Any information about this John Huffman/Hoffman, and a possible link to the 1714 settler, would be greatly appreciated!
