In the 1830 Sullivan County, TN census, four Holt men are listed as heads of households: James Sr, James, Ambrose, and Gabriel. In the 1840 census, James Sr is no longer listed as a head of household and, as such, is unnamed in that census. Further, in the 1850 census, James Sr. is listed in the household of Ambrose as being 100-years-old. Listed as heads of households in the 1840 Sullivan census are Ambrose, James (Jr), and Jacob, the eldest son of James (Jr). Gabriel Holt is listed in the 1840 Lincoln County, TN census.
Can anyone verify that these four men constitute a single family unit of father -- James Sr. -- and three sons, Ambrose, James (Jr) and Gabriel? Are they grandfather and grandsons? I have significant documentation for these families but no definitive statement of their relationship. Thanks in advance for the help.
