Brian,
Thank you for your continuing support on Holts. On the subject of David of Hanover, I refer you to message 4987 in this forum. Interestingly, I did find that in May 1738 the Essex County court (OB1736-38/p268) ordered James Walker to pay a David Holt 155 pounds of tobacco for 2 days as a witness including coming and going 35 miles to court, plus one shilling for his carriages. This David thus lived outside of Essex and probably had to use a ferrybto nget there, so perhaps this was the David who lived in Hanover - or perhaps the David who once lived in Essex but then lived somewhere else. I've no idea.
