Hi Paul, thanks for writing. Perhaps we're both seeking the same family.
Since I wrote that note, I have found a Thomas in DE that might fit. Here's all that I have on him, assuming he's the one and only in DE at that time.
Born 1754
Military service, data found in pension file:
Sometime 1777-1779 Enlisted in Capt. John Larmoth's Co., at Lewistown, Sussex DE and served as a private under Col. Hall of DE.
1780 Served at the battle of Cowpens, during which he received a very serious wound to his right arm.
1781 Fought in the battle of Camden and was then taken prisoner. After his release, he served in Capt. Kirkwood's Company until the end of his service.
4/3/1782 Was wounded while in the service of the army during the Rev. War and was dismissed on this date due to a disability caused by his wound.
2/5/1793 Was examined and again found to be disabled due to his previous military service and unable to serve.
5/4/1795 Again examined and found to be disabled by a musket ball wound in his right arm.
July 22, 1795
The following record was found in book 15 of the Land and Deed records for Sussex County, Delaware, page 533:
Thomas Holstons Affidavit
Sussex County. I do hereby certify that Thoms Holston in the annexed certificate mentioned personally appeared before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the peace for the County aforesaid and made oath on the holy Evangelis of almighty God that he is the identical person who received a wound in his right arm while a soldier in the Delaware Regiment of foot in the service of the United States mentioned in the above Certificate. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand this twenty second day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety five.
(Signed) J. Rollack
5/22/1822 Was granted a disability pension of $8 per month.
1800 census, Living in Murderkill, or Forest of Broadkill Hundred, Kent DE. 41001-20200.
11/27/1821 Living in Murderkill, Kent DE
Perhaps this is the same family as the Thomas that is supposed to be buried in KY. Could be he moved west with some kids. Compare notes, and let me know what you think.
