Dear Ann, I think I have some info on this family.

Claiborn Holshousen was my 3rd great-grandfather.
He was born Sept.2,1814 in Holland and immigrated to
the U.S., settling in Moscow, Texas. He died April 25,
1889, in Livingston, Texas.

He was married to Margaret Jane Criswell May 27,
1847. They were aboard the same ship to the U.S. She
was born Jan.31,1820 in Ireland and died June 10,
1893 in Livingston, Texas.

This Holshousen info came from an old family Bible,
published in 1850. This Bible was in possession
of Mrs. Harry Victery in Polk County, Texas in 1945.

All this came from a Hill Family book of mine.

I hope this is of some help to you. I do'nt know of
anything about the Holshousens being in N.C. or about
their son in Polk Co., Texas. Would like to know more
about that. Thanks, Dan
