I now have newspaper articles about the murder of Hastings Holly. Suspects were his neighbors, the Floyds, however, no one was ever convicted of a crime.

This all came about becuase Wyley Floyd was not only married to his wife, Caroline McClendon Floyd, but also made conjugal visits to her sister, Lizzie McClendon, who lived next door.

This went on for some time before formal complaint was made. Why? Does anyone know why Hastings Holly chose to make a complaint when he did? Close neighbors include the Floyds, Powells, and McClendons, all relatives with each other by blood or marriage. The Holly family had been present in the same area for decades, but I don't know of any intermarriages with any of the above families. What was the Holly family connection with their neighbors?

Hastings Holly's widow still resides with a few minor children at the homeplace in the 1880 census. AFter that I don't know what happened to her or the rest of the family. Why did she stay? Where did the family go after that?
