Smithsonian - Richard Holloway
I was in Washington DC this weekend and paid a visit to the National Museum of American History (Smithsonian). One section of the museum chronicles the African-American experience throughout our history as a nation.
To my surprise, I came an exhibit detailing the story of a Richard Holloway who was apparently a free-black slave owner in Charleston, South Carolina [1].
Has anyone else seen this exhibit or have connections to this family?
I have no known ties myself (lacking any African American descent to my knowledge), but find it interesting that in all my searches for my own g-g-grandfather Richard W. Holloway, that I've never stumbled across this story.
