Holloway- Samuel Walker and Bell connection
I am a 4th-Great Grandson of William Holloway probably born about 1770, and Nancy Ann (Boswell) Mitchell born abt 1769 from Spartenburg South Carolina, through their daughter Sarah Holloway who married theRev. John Noble / Nobles also from Spartenburg S.C., who settled and died in DeKalb (now Etowah Co. Alabama). Both the Holloway and Noble families that came from South Carolina were some of the early settlers of North Alabama, around early Blount and St. Clair and DeKalb Counties (in what is now Etowah County) William and Nancy Holloway are buriedin St. Clair County AL -cannot remember cemetery at present.Rev. John Noble and Sarah are buried at Noble Hill Cemetery in Etowah Co. Alabama. The Skillman, Bennett, Rhea families were some of the early families that settled in North Alabama along with he Holloways and Noble's families.
I descend through their daughter Martha Patsy Noble, born about 1826 in either St. Clair or DeKalb Co, AL, she married Elijah B. Skillman who was born in 1818 in TN, probably about 1840-42, we think maybe in St. Clair County or DeKalb Co, Alabama.
We have been unable to locate the parents of William Holloway, but I alongwith others strongly consider the possibility of Eramuas Noble as his father.Still working on this theory.
There were many Holloway in Edgefield, South Carolina during that time period. There wasThomas Holloway who married a Lucretia Walker about 1798, the daughter of Samuel Walker and Martha Jefferson Bell.Thomas Holloway was born about 1777 and was the son of George Holloway and Martha Ann Hall.
Also being a descendant of the Walker and Noble family lines, I have given much research to this Samuel Walker line, for it is thought we may desend from this line on the Walker side also.On the Samuel Walker line I noticed the Holloway and Noble connections were strongly intertwined with this family, and all are from Edgefield, South Carolina at the same time as my Holloways.
Also I have noticed that many of the same family names in the Samuel Walker and Thomas Holloway families are the same as our William Holloway line.
Is it possible that William Holloway born abt. 1770 could be the brother of Thomas Holloway and son of George and Martha Ann Hall?
Any information on this theory and these families would be greatly appreciated.I have quite a bit of info and would be glad to share. Thanks Danny J. [email protected]
