Mary Sawyer 2/12/99
Frankie, and others..I suspect I connect to a Holloway/Edgar family. My lineage as follows:
Edgar Oras Fraisure (b. 1864, d. 1865)
Alice Fraisure (b. 1862 in TX)my g'mo
the parents were Mary Sutton (b.1826, Gibson Co, TN)& John Henry Fraisure.
parents of Mary Sutton were Sarah Easterwood (b.ca 1800, AL or GA) and John Sutton (b.ca 1800, AL or GA and died Gibson Co. TN 1836)
parents of Sarah Easterwood were Nancy Holloway b.ca 1776 probably AL,GA or SC and m.ca 1795 probably AL/GA, and died Gibson Co. TN 1846; and Simeon E'wood b. ca 1770 and d. 1842 TN.
Nancy Holloway was said to be Indian, probably Cherokee. This was told by a grandchild who remembered seeing her, with her long black hair hanging loose, in the days when most women would've had it done up.The Easterwoods were known to have been in Clarke and Butler Cos., GA before going to Gibson Co,TN ca early 1820s.
I wonder if Nancy had Edgar connections, thus her gt-grandson Edgar was named for a ?gt'uncle? gt-gt-g'fa?Or did a daughter/granddaughter marry an Edgar, and the younger Edgar named for an uncle or gt-uncle??I know quite abit about the family and don't know of any Edgars spouses!
Any help/speculations, or whatever, appreciated.e-mail [email protected].
