Thanks to Gary Tharp, who received these doc's., and shared them with me, I am passing this along.
The Swallow and Tharp lines were from Hunterdon Co. NJ area. and this family removed to Fulton Co. IL. Research on the HOLLOWAY line is just beginning.
If you have further info on any of the families. Please make contact.

Jan,
This is an original document, evidently submitted by a Emma Lou Reeder to the LDS Genealogical Library on Jan. 18, 1978. My scanner is down, but will send what was sent to me via email. Note: This also appears to be the original Bible Page! Maybe you know who the ladies are that are in the notes?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Greetings Gary,
My name is Cathy O'Hare and I live in San Jose, CA. I found your e-mail address in the Ancestry.com /Rootsweb gedcom on the THARP family.The reason I am contacting you is because I have something you may be interested in. I paid a visit to my local LDS FHC Library today and they always have a table full of genealogy books and materials that they are giving away, I guess in an effort to clear out space. Several of the items were folders full of bits and pieces of articles and notes and records on miscellaneous unrelated families. It appears that it was just information collected and donated over the the years and in an effort to keep all of it in some kind of order someone put it all into folders. The last two pages of one of these folders on the "free" table was a letter written by a lady named Emma Lou Reeder of Santa Clara, CA, dated 18 Jan. 1978, another note written by someone named Jean Anderson, and an old yellowed page from a Family Bible titled "Family Record".
The parents listed are HOLOWAY WHITFIELD THARP, b. 6 Dec. 1814 and AMY THARP b. 4 March 1824.
"Whitfield Tharp was married to Amy Swallow on the 28th day of May in the year of our Lord 1842"
It lists children:
John Wesley b. 14 Nov. 1844;
Catherine Ann b. 12 Sept. 1845;
William T. b. 29 Sept. 1848;
Peter R. b. 9 Sept. 1850;
Samuel K [Lemuel] b. 2 Oct. 1853;
Whitfield T. 11 July, 1856 {these last two names are very faded and scribbled over in pencil}
[also Hannah Jane b. 1860 MO. and Hezikiah Cattron,b.1869 IL.]
It appears that Emma Lou Reeder mailed this Bible page and the note written by Jean Anderson to the local LDS Library in Santa Clara, CA.
Her letter reads:
"Dear Friends,
Years ago my Father-in-law gave me a Bible his Aunt Jean E. Anderson had owned in Illinois. Inside it I found the inclosed. I am sending it to you hoping it will serve someone.
Very Truly Yours,
Emma Lou Reeder"
The note written by Jean Anderson reads:
"I found this page from an old Family Bible among papers when we cleared Anna's house. It no doubt was Peter Tharp's {who married Mary Stevenson}. It could be very interesting and valuable to the Tharp's if old family recidence were to be looked up in the Army Service. The Swollows emigrated to America in 1666, as given in Goodspeed genealogy. Amy Sparrow could have been a
descendant. The marked over record of page looks like: Samuel Tharp, born Oct. 2, 1853, Whitfield Tharp, born ------- 1855. I could not bear to destroy this record. Hoping to give it to a Tharp--{one lived in Fairview}
Jean E. Anderson"
Anyhow, when I found these papers in one of those folders I decided to"rescue" them and see if I could find someone from the family who would like to have them. If you send me your address I will mail them to you.
Let me know.
Cathy O'Hare
