Linda,
Just browsing some messages and came across this message from you. We have corresponded before about our Hollman families. This Wilh Hollman that you found belongs to my Hollmans, I think. I haven't figured out just how he is related but he came directly to Nebraska and settled in Crete which is the area that my Hollmans settled (just a few miles east of Crete in the Kramer area). He then married in Crete and then moved farther west to the Kearney/Hastings area where he remained. There is a business in Minden named Hollman Foods that I think he started.
I think you can also find him in the passport application. I think he made at least two trips back to Germany. I think he took his family with him on at least one of the trips back to Germany.
I don't recall the date 1883, I was thinking that he came in 1885 so it might be two different Wilh Hollmans that you found. I do know that he was young when he first came. I just figured that he had to be related to my Hollmans because he came directly to this area and he was young and by himself.
He is in the census records for this area and then for the area around Kearney and Minden Nebraska. Some of his children were born in Crete and some after he moved west.
Have you found more info since you fast trip to Nebraska?
Anita
