I am seeking male Hollister descendants of the three brothers of Westerleigh to join the Hollister DNA project. My one name study into the Surname is almost complete for the UK and I now have the five major familes of Westerleigh, Olveston, Henbury, Almondsbury and Wootton Bassett all going back into the 16th Century and ending in 1901 almost complete. Obviously there are quite a few groups for which no paper trail exists to connect them to any of the major groups but have been almost completed as far as it does exist. We know from the DNA results so far that the Hollisters were not Celtic, Anglo Saxon nor Norman. Our origins are covered in Stephen Oppenheimer's book " The Origins of the British" pages 394-395. We also know from the DNA project that John who emigrated to America in the early 17th Century and married Joanna Treat was an early cousin of the Westerleigh Family but long before the introduction of Parish Registers. With the help of more participants I will be able to prove the trees and find connections for some of the others. After completion the trees will be published in some form yet to be determined. I urge therefore for male Hollisters from where ever to join the project and perhaps we maybe the first in the world to complete such a project.
