DNA Research for Hollister Families

Hello.

I am the Administrator for the Hollister DNA Surname Project at FamilyTreeDNA.com. I want to invite all Hollister researchers to visit the aforementioned site and the public Hollister site at:

http://www.familytreedna.com/public/Hollister

DNA research, when coupled with our Hollister surname can help you discover which line to research. With my Jenkins surname research, I had hit a brick wall with my research and had no idea where to look next. Once I received my DNA test back, I matched all 37 genetic markers with a Jenkins researcher halfway across the country. That family had better luck researching then I did (normal genealogical research methods) and now I have a direct line to research for my connection!

All you need to do to start is:

1)Research the DNA technology and how the system works on the website - they explain the technology and process in an easy-to-follow manner.

2)Find a male ancestor with the Hollister surname. The DNA sample has to come from a living male Hollister ancestor as this is how the Y-Chromosome is passed down, generation to generation (father -> son).

3)Purchase a DNA kit. You have options ranging from $99.00 for a 'low-resolution' test (to see if you get any hits with other researchers) to $219.00 for the 'high-resolution' test (you won't have to upgrade this test and you can more definitively match with other researchers later on).

4)Receive kit and take DNA sample. Easy to follow directions.

5)Wait for the results. It takes a couple months for the sample to be tested by the lab in Arizona...then they make sure the results are correct before releasing the results to you.

6)Compare your results not only with Hollister researchers, but with thousands of other researchers across the globe.

Don't delay emailing me for further explanation and information regarding DNA research. It has vastly helped my research. We already have 1 probable member lined up to take the 37-marker test.

Take care,

Josh Jenkins
