Doug,

This probably refers to James H. Hollingsworth, a Methodist Minister and close friend of Debs. He wrote at least one pamphlet in support of Debs. "Eugene Debs: What his neighbors think of him". He and Debs were scheduled to speak at the same organizing event in Terra Haute, Indiana. This may be the event that Debs missed because of illness.

His daughter, Margaret Hollingsworth Bard, received a letter of condolence from Theodore Debs, Eugene Debs brother, after Hollingsworth's death in 1943, calling him "the most Christlike man who ever lived".

Ron
