Beth,
I would think that the next step might be to try to find an obituary for Doretta Hollingsworth. I would think that by 1977 they were pretty standard in whatever was the local newspaper where she lived.
As for locating the sister of William, his obituary, if he had one, would probably be the best way to get a lead.
