Doug,
Thanks sending me the Harry Hollingsworth paper on Jesse Hollingsworth of Georgia. In terms of its thoroughness and honesty, I've never seen anything like it in any of my ancestral lines.
Having had a chance to study the paper, I decided to cite Harry's paper and add the elder Jesse to a family history that I'm writing, with the notation that Jesse, Jr. (my ancestor) hasn't been proven to be his son, although circumstantial evidence points that way.And since family histories are never complete, I'll continue to look for direct proof. But with the consistent rate at which Georgia courthouses seem to burn, it will take a stroke of luck for me to find anything.
I was also unaware that Jesse, Jr. had an older son, Jackson (born 1831).But I found Jackson living as a laborer in the household of William R. Holloway in the 1850 Berrien County, GA census, page 367b.Jackson's age is 19, matching an 1831 birth date.I'll also add him to the family history.
Thanks again, Brian
