Sorry...I'm not quite there yet! The Penn Twp., St. Joseph Co., IN connection has baffled me for years and, thanks to data I'm finding on the new LDS site, I am finally beginning to sort things out! Here is a better clue to your Elizabeth's actual age, courtesy of the 1870 US Census:
1870 US Census for Penn Twp.,St. Joseph Co., IN

My third great grandfather, William Hollingshead, wound up in Brady Twp., Williams Co., OH where we think he died about 1841. His son, Nathaniel Hollingshead, married Charlotte M. SPAKE (daughter of Jacob SPACHT/SPECHT/SPAKE and Mary BECK) on 10 November, 1849 in West Unity Williams Co., OH. The first two of their six children were born in Ohio, but the last four were born in Penn Twp. While living there, Nathaniel served a 100 day enlistment guarding railroads in Georgia as a Private with the 138th Indiana Volunteer Infantry. He later removed to Hillsdale Co., MI, then to Homer, Calhoun Co., MI where he, his wife and two of their children are buried. The paper trail my particular branch of the family left is very thin and hard to follow so I need to proceed with care.
Linda Hollingshead Wilbur
