Finally have more on Rev. Robert NT Holliday, and thought I'd pass it along in case you're still viewing the forums, Terrel.
I have a abstraction of his obit. It differs a year and a day from the quoted date I listed before. The obit states he was born 22 Nov 1831 (*but keep in mind it has been transcribed several times and may be a typo). He was indeed born TN and his father brought him to St. Louis Co when he was three, then on to Waverly, Morgan Co IL. He married Sophia Frances Deatherage in Morgan Co IL on April 26, 1853. He became a licensedminister of the Methodist Episopal Church South in 1854. He had various appointments, the first in Missouri being in Oct 1857 to St. Charles Mo area. In 1860 he does appear on the DeKalb Co MO census , he has with him his wife, Sophia Frances, and two children: (your Leston) Leston A. Holliday 5 born IL, and Orlando B.R. Holliday 1/12 born MO.At this point Robert is given as 27, clergy MES CHurch, born TN.
He was appointed to the Weston District in Oct 1860. I don't have him placed on a census for 1870. He did return to Morgan CO IL for a while, he was administrator for a Deatherage member probate on 1865 back in Morgan Co (so I would assunme he spent ait of time there at that time) and he did a guest sermon at the Appalonia (outside of Waverly, Morgan Co IL) in 1869 , then returning to Missouri.
His obit gives his death date as 26 August 1881, it was submitted to the St. Louis Christian Advocate, a publication of the Methodist Episcopal Church South, by W. H. Lewis from Carrollton, MO and appeared 14 Sept 1881.
I know his father was a doctor and after coming to IL , Dr. Holliday lived and died in the Morgan Co area. Rev. Robert's half brothers and sisters can be found in Morgan Co. I do not have pre-history, other than Holliday's came up from Paris, TN on the Hollidays. If you are interrested in his wife, Sophia Frances Deatherage, I can help you more there. She was the daughter of Achilles Deatherage and Malinda Rogers. Her family are buried in Rogers Cemetery right outside Waverly in Morgan Co. Achilles parents were George Deatherage and Milly Bingham of Stokes Co NC. George died in 1807 in Stokes and Milly bought her family through KY and finally to IL. Milly is also buried in Rogers Cemetery, as are several of her other sons. Achilles Deatherage did military service for the Black Hawk Indian War in IL and has a military tombstone.
If you're still viewing, I'd love to have you email me, if you're interested in more. I do have photo's of Rogers Cemetery graves and they can also be viewed online via the Morgan Area Genealogical Association (MAGA), Researching Your Roots In Central Illinois. I have a copy of Achilles probate record, and though it doesn't mention his grandchildren, Sophia Holliday is listed. If you'd like a copy I'd gladly sent it to you.
