My mother's maiden name was Amanda Holle and her grandfather was HEINRICH (Henry) HOLLE, Sr. He was born 14 Jan 1844 in Stemwede- Arrenkamp, Westphalia, Germany, and died 21 Sep 1936 in New Salem, Morton County, North Dakota, USA. He was the son of LOUISE HOLLE and FERDINAND SÜDKAMP. (Note: Since Louise had no brothers to carry on the Holle name, their children took the name of the farm "Holle.")
My great-grandfather Henry Holle immigrated to America in 1863. He first married CHARLOTTE MARGARETHE "ENGEL" GAEBE 1867 in Addieville, St. Clair Co., Illinois, daughter of HERMANN GAEBE and MARIE STRANGEMEIER. She was born 20 Apr 1847 in Stemwede-Arrenkamp, Westphalia, Germany, and died 30 Sep 1884 in Addieville, St. Clair Co., IL.
He then married my great-grandmother CAROLINE KLUSMANN 23 Sep 1881 in Addieville, St. Clair Co., IL, daughter of JOHANN KLUSMANN and MARIA BRANDHORST. She was born 17 Jan 1857 in Barkhausen, Lower Saxony (formerly Hannover, Prussia), Germany, and died 18 Dec 1947 in New Salem, Morton Co., ND.
