Hi Peter:
Yes, I understand about names "evolving" ... when trying to trace one branch of my family, I found about 12 variations of the surname ('Eigster' in Germany, 'Oyster' or 'Aister' on arrival in the U.S., then 'Eyster', with several other variants in the same family.)
It can be frustrating.
As for my husbands Wormald family, we don't know much...his grandparents passed away quite awhile ago, and his parents also left us before I started pursuing genealogy. All we know is that his grandparents immigrated here (Canada) from the U.K., so I don't know if we'll ever find any true origins, but I'm giving it my best shot.
Thanks again for the valuable info.
Regards,
Gayden
