In the 1880 U.S. Federal Census the birthplace of the mother of William Henry Hopkins(1838NY-1911IA) is listed as Holland. His father's birthplace is listed as New York State.
These are the only clues I have on his parents. I'm assuming his father was born between say 1785-1815 and his name was probably William or Henry, but maybe not.
I've already discovered that William F. Hopkins and Ann Dutcher had a son named William born 1849, way too late to be my William Henry Hopkins. So I'm still looking for a Hopkins who married a woman from Holland probably in NYS before 1838. Good luck with that search!
