meaning of "De Wees"

My family goes back to some Dutch people named Hendricks, including Gerhard Hendricks an early settler in Phila. Some of the references to Gerhard Hendricks and his Father Gerrit Hendricks include the words "de Wees" after them. I found another reference to different Hendricks family that settled in New Amsterdam and then later traveled to Phila. Also having the same "de Wees" added after the name in some references. What does that mean? For instance the daughter Wilhelmina Hendricks de Wees married a man named Rittenhouse at the Dutch Reformed Church in New York.
