William Newton Holyfield b. October 1836
If anyone can help in my search, I would appreciate it! My g-g-grandfather William Newton Holyfield b. October 1836,Arkansas. Married Mary Jane Mease, March 23, 1859, Pope County, Arkansas. She was born September 28, 1842, Tennessee, died January 12,1884. Newton enlisted for twelve months in Company G, 1st Battalion (Stirman's), Arkansas Calvary, C.S.A., February 15, 1862, in Pope County. In early 1863 he was a second corporal and was on detached service as a pioneer. He was captured at Lewisburg, Arkansas, December 6, 1864, at which time he was a private. In January 1865, his name appeared on a list of deserters who had given up and were confined in the military prison at Lewisburg; he was transferred to Little Rock. The family lived in Atkins Wilson Township, Pope County, in 1880, where he was a merchant. They were buried in Oakland Cemetary, near Atkins, Pope County, Arkansas.>I am looking for information as to who William Newton Holyfield's mother & father was & dates if possible...also the mother & father & dates of Mary Jane Mease. Also looking for Holyfield family who has lived on Petty Jean Mountain, in Arkansas.
