Margaret Jane Holford was the daughter of Daniel Holford and Sarah Ann (Sally) Allison.
They had been married in Clermont Co, OH 10 July 1834, and moved to Pike Co, IL.

Margaret Jane was born 11 Dec 1846 in Indiana. Her parents had moved there from Pike Co, Illinois. She had a brother Richard A. Holford who was five or six years older than she. Richard was born in Pike Co, IL in about 1840.

Daniel Holford was born prior to 1815 likely in OH or maybe NY. His parents were Isaac Holford and Mary _______. Both Isaac and Mary died in Pike Co, IL and are buried there on the farm which they owned in Hardin twp. Isaac died in 1854 and Mary in 1858.

Daniel died in the service in the Civil War at Baton Rouge, LA14 Sept 1864. His son Richard also served in the Civil War.

It is likely that Margaret Jane's mother Sally Allison Holford was dau of Richard Allison and Margaret Noe. Margaret Allison lived with Daniel Holford and her daughter, Sally, in later life.

Richard Holford married in Rush Co, IN 23 Dec 1860 to Rebecca A Cunningham. He was a minister after the Civil War. He died 10 Sept 1899 in Indiana. Rebecca died 21 Sept 1913 in Madison Co, IN.

Would love to exchange information on the Holford family. Bill
