Holeman Family Genealogy Forum

Michael,
I'm interested in learning more about the Thomas Holeman who was born in May 1838. My ancestor, Thomas Hol(e)man (b: ca 1790-1800 in NC) had at least two sons (both born in AR), one Joseph (b: 1836) was my great-grandfather, and he had a brother, Thomas, who was born in 1838. Joseph was in the Confederate Army, and I assume that his brother Thomas was too. I did finally locate a Thomas Holeman who died in a federal prison in Alton, Illinois. He had been captured at the battle of Helena, AR. But there's no proof that he is related to my Holmans. I haven't found anything else about him. Of course, the man who was my great-uncle may have survived the war and moved on west. My great-great grandfather, Thomas Holeman, spelled his name both with an e and without it, on various documents. From Joseph on it has been spelled Holman.
Thanks, Mynda Holman McGuire
