I am a descendant of the Holley family of which the earliest ancestor I traced back was Israel Holley from West Milford. I see a lot of earlier information on the surname Hole. I'm wondering if the Hole surname changed to Holley in the 1800's and perhaps the Hole's from Passaic County are ancestors or are they two different families altogether?
