Hi Pauline
Thanks for message. My paternal grandfather was a William Melling who married Fanny Holden.Fanny's parents were Robert Holden and Eliza Holden, (another family), and both families were from Scorton, near Lancaster.Add to thatthe fact that William's mother, Margaret Holden was sister to Robert!!!So William and Fanny were first cousins.
So all my Holdens were from Scorton and I have quite a lot about them.Lancaster is very near and so some of them must have gone there at times. All the records are in Lancaster Public Record Office.
I haven't met the name Fothergill yet, but I haven't followed up all the marriages.I have dates back to the 1700's in some cases.
I am also trying to trace a Holden who was christened in Lancaster in 1812, at least not him but some of his family.
I go to Preston sometimes, but the next visit won't be for a few weeks.
Please tell me just what you would like to know first. If it's only dates, I might be able to get them in Manchester, sooner.
Are you in the UK?
Carmel
