The main reason for my post is I'm trying to locate my grandfather, Holcombe Heyward Henderson born 1901 in Charleston, SC. (married Clarice Marjorie Affleck of New Haven, CT in 1933, and divorced 1937). But let me get to the family breakdown, and maybe someone can help me. (Holcombe from the Holcombe's, Heyward from the Heyward signor of Declaration of Independence) My ggg-grandfather is Walter Henderson b: 1813 d: 11/18/1887 and married Judith Elizabeth Royall Holcombe b: 1/15/1815 d: 3/20/1860 (daugther of Thomas A. Holcombe and Mary Allen Royall). Their children Mary, Julia, Thomas Holcombe***, Florence, and Lucy. Thomas Holcombe Henderson b:6/25/1846 d:12/9/1900 (served in Civil War) married Eugenia W? Their children Charles W, Walter****, Eugenia W, and Mildred. (all born in Macon, Georgia) Walter Henderson b:10/24/1877 d: 1944?? married Catherine L. Heyward b: 9/1878 d:? in 1900 in Charleston, SC. (Her father is Andrew Hasell Heyward). Their children are Holcombe Heyward****, Catherine Heyward 1902 or 1903, and Pauline Heyward 1904, all born in Charleston, SC. I located a 1850 census from Lynchburg VA that shows the Holcombe's and the Henderson's basically living next door to each other. There are slave schedules also for Mary Allen Royall Holcombe who was the wife of Thomas Anderson Holcombe b: 8/18/1785 d: 10/31/1843 on the same census. I'm hoping that someone has heard of these Henderson individuals and may be able to help. I have only found 4 references to my Grandfather, and he seems to have fallen off the edge of the earth after 1937. My father divuldged very little information about my grandfather, but did mention in passing that there was a 1/2 sister out there somewhere, she would have been born after 1937. So if anyone has anything, I'm in your debt! Sincerely, Margie Potter Phoenix, AZ Notify Administrator about this message?
