I have a bit of correction to your information regarding Almina Holcomb and Samuel Ellis-I am decended from their daughter Rachel Experience and I am showing the following children born to this marriage.
I have located an obituary for their daughter Mary A. that gives some important information about this family:
"ADAMS, Adaline Mary Ellis
Apr. 2, 1845 - Feb. 27, 1931
The Lincoln Star (Lincoln Nebraska)Sunday, March 1931
"Adaline M. Tilton- Adaline M. Tilton, 86, the widow of Samuel Tilton, died at the home of Mrs. W. H. Stein of Malcolm Friday morning.Adaline Mary Ellis, the daughter of Samuel J. Ellis and Elmira Holcom was born April 2, 1845 Near Pleasant Date, Madison county Ohio. With her two brothers and one sister she was left an orphan at an early age.
Her brother, John, died in the service of the Union army, in the Civil War.In 1869 she and her first husband, Oscar Adams, her brother Daniel and her sister, Rachel Skaggs and families, migrated to Nebraska.
In that year they homesteaded on a section of land just west of the present site of Panama. Here they met and conquired the hardships of the early pioneer.Mrs. Tilton, had for sixty-two years resided in Lancaster county and for the past forty-three years had lived in or near Firth.
She is survived by two half brothers, Lewis Ellis of Ohio and Jefferson Ellis of Phoenix Arizona, for step sons; Frank Tilton of Lincoln, John Tilton, Long Beach Cal., George Tilton of South Dakota and Harry Tilton of Iowa;several neices and nephews, children of the late Daniel W. Ellis and the children of the late Rachel E. Skaggs.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock, Sunday afternoon at the Firth Presbyterian Church with Rev Mr. Hill officiating.Interment in Firth cemetery."
According to information I have gathered Samuel J. Ellis married Alvira Morrison on Nov 30, 1851.They had the following children:
Jefferson b: abt 1853
Lewis A b: 14 Nov 1855
Viola b: abot 1856
I noticed that there is a Jeremiah Ellis in Darby Co. in 1850 and we find this family also living in Firth, Gage Co., NE so there is a relation.I find a land transfer between Jeremiah's grandson Ora Ellis and Rachel E. Ellis's granddaughter, Wren Baker in 1923 in Firth Ne.

I would love to find out which line Obed Holcomb is related to coming from Vermont to Ohio. Any information on Holcomb or this Ellis family would be great.
