Hi Cheryl,
My Uncle Bill says that our ancestors came to what is now Quebec and migrated to Plattsburg, NY many many years ago.Grandma used to tell us when we were kids that they came in the end of the 1500's or early 1600's. Uncle Bill confirms that Grandma LaPointe told him that the Hogue's most likely did change the spelling of their name to Hoag in order to Americanize it. Grandma, who was born in 1901, told me that she had some cousins in Vt. with the names of LANDRY and POOLER. Have you been to the WORLD BRIDE INDEX ?
I see that there were some LANGLOIS who were married to a LANDRY. She also said that she believed that her ancestors in France were Huegonots. BTW, G'ma made it to 100 and a half. Sharp as a tack to the end.
