We have WILLIAM EVERETT HOGGATT born India 1868 died 1933 Gosport Hants.
Married Rachel Crisp Seaman also born in India 1877, daughter of Walter Seaman born 1840 and Ann Crisp born 1855. we think that William and Rachel returned to the UK in the late 1890s, they settled in Portsmouth, Hants. My mother was born in Portsmouth.
We think our Hoggatt family originated in Lancashire and were military people who were serving in India, I have found Hoggatts on the Census for 1901 living in Lancashire and Yorkshire who were born in India, but do not know if they are our relatives. There were no Hoggatts in Portsmouth in earlier census returns
