Results of my efforts

Using Internet resources alone, I have made a rough sketch of the migrations of Hoggards, thru NC/VA to TN/KY and then to AK/MO/OK. Checking the white pages on Yahoo shows most Hoggards to still be in NC, with many in KY and MO/AK. I am in Indiana, my paternal GP is from Springfield, MO and his father or GP came from Kentucky.

I've traced the NC Hoggard's back to a William, born in the 17th Century, who begat a Patrick (b.1697), who begat a Patrick (b.1715), who begat another Patrick (b.1753), who begat Elisha (b.1770), John (b.1761), Jesse, Wright, and you can see the dates don't add up right, so I can't substantiate the information. Perhaps the last Patrick was born earlier.

I've also found sources tracing Hoggards back to Nottinghamshire in 1535, and Hoggards in Yorkshire, particularly around Hull. A hoggard was either a pig drover, or a lamb keeper, depending on two different sources.

I've also found Hoggards in Australia and New Zealand, in fact, the 10th richest man in NZ is a Hoggard!
