I am researching Dr Richard Bowen HOGG b 1847 Carmarthen who arrived in Timaru December 1878 on the Opawa.
He was the son of James HOGG and Eliza Bowen JONES. He had a sister Mary Ann Catherine Bowen HOGG b 1848 who married William ALLEN in 1873, a mariner, they had 2 daughters who survived.
Eliza Bowen JONES was born in 1814 in Carmarthen to Daniel JONES, a saddler and his wife, Maria ( or Mary BOWEN - married 07/07/1805).
Eliza died 1871 in Hackney London aged 57 and had a brother, Richard Bowen JONES who was a church minister in Carmarthen. Richard had a son Lloyd Middleton Bowen JONES b 1852 Narberth PEM, who also became a ships doctor and was residing in St Peter Carmarthen in 1901 with his wife Louisa.
It is also very possible Daniel JONES had another son, Edward Bowen JONES, a chemist and druggist b abt 1810
I would like to make contact with any descendents of Dr R Bowen HOGG if there are any
