Thomas Hogg and Sarah Scott

I am descended from Thomas Hogg (1782-1842) and Sarah Scott (1789-aft 1850).

They had ten or more kids, among them Eli (Elzethan or Elnathan?), Anna (McNeely), Rebecca (Dawson), William S, and John (my line) who married Jane E. Miller.

John appears to have had a falling out w/ his family at some point, he added an "e" to his surname. Also gravitated into Ellis County when a number of his other family ended up in nearby Collin County.

Thomas (born 1782) has traditionally been linked to parents James and Emma Gregory, of Augusta Co VA. However, their marriage is well documented, some 16 years later. Also, Thos & his family all appear to have been born in or near the old York District of SC, rather than Virginia, while the James/Emma line seems to have moved more into Tennessee and west from there, rather than south.

Migration pattern for my line appears to be York and/or Charleston SC > Holly Springs (Marshall Co) MS (some also to Tuscaloosa Co AL) > Ellis and/or Collin Cos TX.

Can anyone help me with either Thomas or Sarah Scott's family lineage -- forward or backward?

Thanks to all,

Elaine
