Dear Frances,
Thank you for your kind response. I am descended from John Brawley, Jr, son of John Sr. Russ Brawley believes that the name of John Sr.'s wife is Mary Guy. There is some reason to adhere to that premise, since one of John's children was, indeed, Mary Guy Brawley; but I have been unable to find any mention whatsoever of the name of John Brawely's wife in the Wythe County records.
You might be interested to know that one or two of the old Brawley homes are still standing here in Wythe, including the John S. Bralley home (he was the son of James).
Trying accessing the Brawley site in Genforum and correspond with Russ. His research is the best I know on the subject.
Would it be too much trouble to capsulize the contents of Agnes' will? I've never seen a copy! Is there any doubt that she is the mother of our James Hoge?
Jim
