I would assume the source for Agnes/Agnus Hoge's maiden name comes from the The Family of Hoge by James Hoge Tyler. He seems to have erred in naming her as the first wife, however. She, in her own will dated 1798, named herself as the widow of James Hoge.
We do need something more to substantiate the name of Crawford.

I am a descendant of Joseph Hoge and Barbara Brawley, daughter of John Bralley/Brawley of Wythe County, VA. Do you know who John's wife was?
