Dear Donna, Elizabeth's father Edward (b. 1814)was a corn miller and maltster and the son of William Hoggarth ( 1754/5 - 1842 ) and Sarah Fawcett. His parents appear to have been John Hoggarth and Jane (neč Hodgson of Dillicar)who married on 25th April 1753 in Hughill. All places mentioned are close to each other. Elizabeth had lots of brothers and sisters! I am a descendant of her brother John (b. 1822), but you may be interested to know that a well-known illustrator for Penguin Books, just google Paul Hogarth even though his real name was Arthur Paul, was a descendant of Elizabeth's brother Rowland.I know you posted the message years ago, but I hope you're still interested because our families meet with Elizabeth's generation and so we could try to help each other go back as far as possible! I think my mum, Jackie Hoggarth, wrote you a letter. Please get in touch if you see this! I live in Italy so my hands are as tied as yours re access to records, but my mum lives in Leyland ( and I think she's taken a room at the Kendal Records Office on the sly!!) so can get more information than us if nudged in the right direction. We are missing a James Hoggarth married to an Isabella...any ideas?
