MILITARY TITLES

Many states bestow the honorary title of Colonel on citizens who have contributed to the public welfare in one way or another, and some people do take on title and rank that are undeserved.
Specifically, however, I have documented the military service of the Hogans in my book, and in every case, the rank is honestly bestowed.Of the names on your list, only Col. John Hogan is in my book.He is the Patriarch of the Hogan family, and he was a Colonel in the North Carolina militia during the Revolutionary War.There are Hogans in the military in virtually every war in US history, from Private to General. Some have died in the service of their country, and all served honorably.
Don't forget, there are also individuals who served in police and fire departments who have rank associated with their names.I hope this is helpful to you.
