Shirley: I'm afraid I don't have much news to report. Just recently got a lead that there were SIX Hogan's that came down into Garrand county, Kentucky with Daniel Boone in the late 1700's ( I'll be working on that soon). Just received a book about the life of Daniel Boone I'll be looking at. Trying desperately to find help through the DAR (American Revolutionary War folks). I know our William (Or James) had to have been in this war. No luck on the Indian wife through Indian records at our library. Keep asking myself the question on the name Cordell, but I don't want to force the issue but this connection looks really really close. Still waiting to get the Civil War records on James Lowery Hogan from our very slow government. Records at our library indicate that he may have been wounded ("Paralysis"). There is also a James Hogan who was a captain ( Need those records!). I am going to be making a trip to northern Arkansas on August 12 and may have time to get to Marion county and check out the settlements of Ewing and his brothers and sister. Brenda gave me some people to contact for this. Wild Bill Hickock came to town in Yellville and killed a couple of gamblers (friends of Ewing???). I am putting everything I have learned in book form but that sure is requiring a lot of researching time. I stumbled onto this book on E-bay giving some history of the early settlers of Overton county but I wasn't quick enough on the draw and was outbid by a genealogist in Salt Lake City by fifty cents!!! Sent off for and received a very detailed work on the Spear family ( Mary Spear, spouse of William Hogan b. 1777/1782). Has anyone looked into an old map of Willow Grove? Tell your mom "hello" for me, the info she has given me is definitely appreciated and will be put into my book. I'll keep you updated on the info I find and be sure to let me know any clues you find no matter how trivial. My father is remembering stories that he never thought were important but I keep asking. He worked on Jimmie Dolittle's (WWII hero) airplane all night just so Jimmie could use it to go hunting in Montana. Uncle Lowe worked on Arthur Lake's ( Dagwood) merchant marine boat during the war.Keep in touch.....Tim
