I am curious. Do you know his first name? Do you know what part of Lorraine he came from. Do you know when he came. I am interested as I have some found Hoffmanns in what is presently known as ast the western portion of Bas-Rhin but was in the part which was surrounded in the north, in the west, and in the south by what is known as the Moselle department of France and therefore is part of what is also known as Lorraine. Depending exactly when this uncle Hoffmann emigrated from Lorraine, I think it could be possible that he could have lived somewhere before going into Moselle, as many of the people did after what was the old county of Nassau-Saarwerden became part of France and was attached to Bas-Rhin.
