Johann Hoffmann was soldier in Napoleon's retreat from Moscow.
Born in/around Strasburg,(Alcase-Lorraine), France-Germany (now French), 5/7/1790.
Married Elizabeth "Katrina" Miller, b.4/7/97, Germany.
Emigrated through Baltimore about 1838, resided there short time. Then Washington County,PA. By 1840's bought farm in Bristol Township, Morgan County, OH. Died there 10/4/1875.

Five children brought to America: Andrew & Nimrod (twins), William, John S., Catherine -- all born around Strasburg.

We are seeking information on Yohann's Franco-German relatives... and of Elizabeth Miller's birthplace or relatives. Elizabeth went by "Hoffman" at death, her children by "Huffman".

Yohann's father is also reported to have been a soldier, serving under Lafayette in the Revolutionary War.
