Thanks to some great, recent proof-positive DNA testing, and some outstanding paper-proven genealogical research and "sleuthing" by my cousin, LARRY HUFF (of Frankfort, KY) and DIANE LONG (Santa Barbara), I am now satisfied that "my" POWELL HOFF's (1801 VA-1872 IA) father was AMOS HOFF (1775 VA-1855 IA), and that his father was a POWEL/POWELL HOFF/HUFF of Turkey Creek, York Co., SC (1746-1816). This was accomplished NOT by "putting it to a vote".

Regarding the JOHN HOFF (a/k/a JONATHAN F. HOFF)(1775-1812), son of the Rev. DANIEL HOFF and SOPHIA MOFFETT HOFF, who came from Pr. William Co., VA, migrating in 1805 to OH, (who I believed for 10+ years was my 3XG grandfather & the father of "my" POWELL HOFF {my 2XG grandfather}); I have since been persuaded that AMOS HOFF was "the guy" (and is my 3XG Grandfather).
