I have a CORNELIUS HOFF whose signature appears on the Marriage Certificate of my 5th Great Grandparents, DANIEL HOFF and LAURA TITUS, who were married in Hunterdon, NJ on 15 Sep 1769. My Hoff line descend from the "Dutch" Hoff line, which came from New York before moving with many Dutch families to NJ after being pushed out by the English. The first name of "Cornelius" is a common name amougst the Dutch (like Cornelius Vanderbuilt). So, I wonder if there a "name sake" connection between my "CORNELIUS HOFF" and yours. Mine was alive a generation (20 years) before yours. So your CORNELIUS could have been either as a son or perhpas a nephue of mine. There was a an obvious connection between this NJ CORNELIUS HOFF and my HOFF line, as he served as a witness to the DANIEL HOFF. HOwever, I am uncertain as to the exact connection between the two individuals. I hope that this information is of interest and help. Cheers, JOHN S. HOFF, Ch icago, IL
