Hi, Linda,

I haven't been to this site for a while, but in response to your inquiry about Philip Hoff:
My great great grandfather, Philip Hoff, was born July 24, 1825 in Westmoreland Co, PA (south of Pittsburgh), then moved to Wayne County, Ohio. He married Salome Younker (also appears as "Yonkers"), born 1830 in Steinseltz, Alsace region (Germany or France). Philip's parents were Henry Hoff (b 1793) and Christina Hess (b 1797), married 1817. Philip's son, Franklin (b 1853, Wayne Co, OH) married Mary Orissa Woods (b 1859). Their son, Clayton Melvern Hoff, my maternal grandfather, grew up on their farm in Friendsville, OH (south of Cleveland).
I wonder if your Philip Hoff was the grandfather of my Philip Hoff.
