You didn't provide an e/mail address so it is hard to contact you directly. I descend from a brother of JAMES HOFF - JONATHAN HOFF, both sons of the Rev. DANIEL HOFF (1746-1802). I visited Marietta and Washington Co., OH this past summer on a genealogy trip with a distant DYE cousin (Shirley Bentley of Columbus, OH) and IO would have liked to hav met you. I have gathered a great deal on our Hoff Family and posted most all of it at <www.RootsWeb.com> and the Hoff Web site at <www.MyFamily.com> But I'd love to talk to you directly. I checked the Marietta phoen book and there are less than a dozen Hoffs left there. Powell Hoff (born 1801 VA - 1870 Dallas Co., IA), son of JONATHAN HOFF, who died there in 1812, was my 2X Great Grandfather. He married a MARTHA BREWSTER there in 1824 and they had 12 children, including my great grandfather, JOHN H. HOFF (1830 in Chesterhill, OH - 1909 Dallas Co., IA). He and his wife, MARY ANN AKIN had 8 children, including my grandfather, JOHN CASSIUS HOFF (1875 - 1960). He and his wifef, MABEL TENNANT had 3 chioldren, including my father, JOHN RICHARD HOFF (1909 Des Moines, IA - 1971 DSM, IA), and then me (1946 - now living in Chicago).
