deHoff, deHuff, Dayhoff of Lancaster, PA
Looking for descendants of the deHoff, deHuff
or (later) Dayhoff family which came from the
German Palatinate. The first settler in Lan-
caster, PA,c. 1742 was John deHuff, b. 1704. He married Catherine Brecht, b. 1704 at Schriesheim, the Palatinate, daughter of Johannes Brecht and his wife, Catherine Hoff-
man.
John deHuff was a follower of the Pietist, Jean deLabadie, whose adherents es-
tablished a religious community at "Bohemia
Manor,"in Cecil County, MD.It was connected
to that 5,000-acre manor granted in 1661 to Augustine Hermann by the Lords Baltimore,
proprietors of Maryland.Later, the
deHuffs were active in the Church of the
Brethern in Lancaster.John and Catherine
deHuff had 11 children so there must be de-
scendants out there.
